Hello and welcome to Voices Unlocked, a website dedicated to Mind in Camden’s Hearing Voices Project for Prisons and Secure Units. Just to give you a bit of background, the project was set up in 2010 to establish a network of sustainable hearing voices groups in and around London.
So what do we do? We provide training for staff and volunteers who work in prisons or secure units. We offer support to people who are in secure settings and hear voices, see visions or have unusual beliefs. You can find out more here about a hearing voices group in a prison near you. And generally, we just want to spread the word about hearing voices and unusual beliefs. We believe peer support groups are an awesome way for people to find and give support in really challenging environments like prison.
The thinking behind this website is to give you regular updates on what we’re up to, but also to provide you with up-to-date information on where you can find a group, how you can sign up for training, and how you can get support, for you or someone you know who is going through this experience. We’d really like it to be full of news and resources about anything related to hearing voices or unusual beliefs in prison, so please do comment on posts and send us links. It’s a work in progress, so we’d love to hear what you think about it, what we’re doing right, and how we can improve it. We hope you find it useful.
